  1. I love jewelry exhibits! It’s interesting to see the trends through the centuries, especially periods of extreme gaudiness that make you wonder, why would people wear that?? And the colors are always beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Cartier is an iconic name. The Cartier Exhibition looks to have summoned the glittering stars from the sky to descend on earth. The collection is really remarkable. The Tutti Fruity collection looks so vibrant and colourful though of course maybe a little gaudy for modern tastes. The golden alligator and the dazzling emerald collections seem to be real show stoppers too.

  3. I have not been to the Cartier exhibition but it sounds fascinating. I have been to the gem section of the Smithsonian National History museum (where the Hope Diamond is on display). The stories behind certain diamonds or jewelry are often rich and lively. You can trace an entire saga by following the ownership of one stone or piece.

    • Thanks! Yes, I’ve seen the Hope diamond also and was definitely thinking of it and the Smithsonian when I was in Canberra- it’s really fascinating the history and ownership that can be traced through individual pieces.

  4. Thank you for such great information on diamond and the exhibition there. I am not a big fan of diamond but will pass on information to my friends who love diamond. This might be a great interested place for them.

  5. The workmanship is just commendable. There was a similar exhibit held by Hermes in Melbourne called Hermes at Work. It was held in April this year. It was just fabulous to see all these extravagant items on display.
